The sky’s the limit with AuditelEdward Brewer, General Manager for Auditel, reveals how he and his 97 year-old grandfather, George Moyse, raised funds for charity. Together they performed a freefall parachute jump!
Edward said he didn’t think his grandfather would be cleared fit to undertake the jump. “I told him if your doctor is mad enough to sign a certificate to say you can jump, then I’ll do it with you. At the time I thought I was on a safe bet. Then he rang me to say, ‘my doctor’s just given me permission to jump!’ So I’ve ended up doing it with him.” Believed to be the UK record for the oldest man to tandem-jump, George, leapt out of a Cessna Caravan aeroplane from 10,000 feet into the blue skies above Wiltshire accompanied by Edward on 4 April. Their freefall descent to earth was clocked at just over 120mph and there to meet them on the ground were members of their family, including George’s great-grandson who were delighted with his achievement. Also greeting George was Flight Lieutenant Anthony Hutchinson from No1 Squadron, RAF Regiment. He presented George with a large framed print of “The Battle of Al Waki Market”, a recent notable combat action in Iraq by No1 Squadron. During WWII this was George’s unit, No1 Armoured Car Company. Edward reports that they raised over £1,500 for the Royal National Lifeboat Association and the Royal Air Force Association charities. Of the jump, grandfather said: “It was lovely, I really enjoyed it; I wasn’t frightened at all.” # # # Auditel is a network of over 100 professional consultants specialising in Cost and Purchase management consultancy End
