Bastian Material Handling Announces Promotion of Gregg Durham and Mitch

April 13, 2009 - PRLog -- Indianapolis, IN — Bastian Material Handling is pleased to announce the promotion of Gregg Durham and Mitch Smith to Vice President – Western U.S. and Vice President – Eastern U.S. respectively.

“Both gentlemen have demonstrated their competence and leadership for many years here at BMH. I have full faith in their capabilities and judgment,” said Bill Bastian II, President.

Mr. Durham joined Bastian Material Handling in 1990 as a Field Sales Engineer and within in a year won the most improved sales award.  In 1999 he was promoted to Regional Sales Manager of Indiana responsible for the Indianapolis and Fort Wayne Offices along with New Business Development in 2004.  In 2006 he became a managing partner and the secretary of the Halo Board of Directors.  Gregg has been actively involved with numerous multi-million dollar projects and has a working knowledge of all aspects of successfully winning and managing a system project from start to finish.  Gregg holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University.  In his new role as Vice President – Western U.S. Gregg will continue to strengthen existing offices in California and Las Vegas and help develop offices in Chicago and Dallas.

As Bastian Material Handling’s Vice President of Eastern U.S. operations, Mr. Smith provides more than 15 years of material handling management and leadership experience.  In 2006, he became a managing partner and member of the Halo Executive Board of Directors.  In 2003, he was instrumental in the development and start-up of the BMH-Cincinnati operation while managing three other branch offices. Since joining the BMH family in 1993, Mitch has served in various roles including Inside Sales Engineer, Design Engineer, Project Manager, Branch Manager, and Regional Manager.  Mitch has been instrumental in the design and implementation of several multi-million dollar projects throughout the United States involving the latest industry technologies of material handling equipment, supply chain execution software, and controls systems. Mitch holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Technology from Morehead State University.  In his new role Mr. Smith will continue to strengthen the Baltimore Washington office and potential new offices in Atlanta and South Carolina.
