James Beard Foundation Nominates Southeast Asian Flavors Among Finalists For Book Award In 2009

The James Beard Foundation nominates Southeast Asian Flavors: Adventures in Cooking the Foods of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia & Singapore, the first book by Chef Robert Danhi, among the finalists for a 2009 Book Award in the international category.
 
March 26, 2009 - PRLog -- El Segundo, Calif. -- Southeast Asian Flavors: Adventures in Cooking the Foods of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia & Singapore, the first book written, photographed and published by Chef Robert Danhi, has been nominated for a 2009 James Beard Foundation Book Award for best book in the international category. Winners will be announced at the James Beard Foundation Awards Gala on May 4, 2009 at the Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, Columbus Avenue and 65th Street, New York City.

“I created this book to take readers on a cooking adventure through the vibrant foods of a culinary paradise – I wanted to serve readers the recipes and cultures I live, breathe and love to cook,” said Chef Danhi, “I would like to thank the James Beard Foundation for this tremendous honor.”

Chef Danhi has spent more than 20 years traveling Southeast Asia in an effort to demystify the cuisines and bring the dynamic flavors of those countries to the American market.  With 400 pages, more than 100 authentic recipes and 700 color photographs taken by Chef Danhi, Southeast Asian Flavors represents the culmination of his endeavors and is an enduring tribute to the region’s heritages, cultures and cuisines.
