March 24, 2009 - PRLog -- REDONDO BEACH, CA. – The O List, a brand new social networking site, is helping charities and non-profit organizations. Non-profit organizations are facing hard times as donations and government spending are at a halt. The O List, launching later this month, is redefining what a social networking site is by focusing on promoting celebrity charities and Internet safety while simultaneously offering the usual networking features.

Lauren Murphy is the founder and chief executive officer of The O List. It was founded with the intention of creating a site for an audience who wanted to network and communicate with others while finding opportunities to become involved with various charities backed by their favorite celebrities. Murphy is partnering with Jayne Hitchcock, President of WHOA (Working to Halt Online Abuse). WHOA is an organization skilled in recognizing online dangers. Members will be able to contact Hitchcock directly with any questions or concerns regarding internet safety.

“The O List is a great way to connect to your friends and meet new people and celebrities in utmost security, while at the same time being able to find opportunities to get involved with a charity of your choice,” says Murphy.

People will be able to connect directly with celebrities and their charities and learn of ways to become more involved. Charities will also be able to create a page that provides information on how the public can make a difference with their organization.
