Chi, The Spa At Shangri-la’s Rasa Sayang Resort And Spa Wins Two Prestigious Spa Awards

March 21, 2009 - PRLog -- CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, Penang has won the “Best Spa Design” and “Best Spa Therapist” at the highly regarded Malaysia Spa and Wellness Awards 2008.

The annual awards, considered by many as Malaysia’s most prestigious spa and wellness awards, recognises outstanding spas and wellness centres across the country and the people behind them.  There are three categories of award: Spas and Wellness Centres, People and Innovations and Special Achievements.  CHI, The Spa won two out of these three categories.  With a broad base of nominees, the judging process is very stringent.  Starting from the submission of supporting documentation right up to undisclosed site inspections, only the most outstanding spas and therapists are recognised to be shortlisted and judged.

CHI, The Spa was named the winner for the “Best Spa Design” category in recognition of its viable design concept that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.  Its distinct Tibetan and Himalayan influences and indigenous Malay and Peranakan flavours of rich timber wood flooring and stone walls is distinctive in its own very way.  With a spacious temple-like setting and bathed in earthy amber tones with a garden sanctum and yoga pavilion, CHI, The Spa is a sanctuary in its own enclave.

Winning the award for “Best Spa Therapist” was Ms Mariana bt. Ibrahim, a therapist at CHI, The Spa, whose skilful hands won the hearts of the judges as well as many guests.  Her polite disposition, professionalism and bright articulate character were noted by many as a quality that came straight from the heart.

The Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor graciously presented the awards to the winners at the grand gala dinner that was held recently at the Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.  Brenda Cox, director of sales from Shangri-La’s National Sales Office in Kuala Lumpur, accepted the “Best Spa Design” award on behalf of CHI, The Spa, while Mariana was present to receive her award for “Best Spa Therapist”.
