VDA Accreditation Now Available in Bristol

March 10, 2009 - PRLog -- One of the country’s leading automotive academies is now providing Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA) accreditation, regarded as being essential for those working within the car body work sector.

Available at S&B Automotive Academy in Bedminster, Bristol, it means those wanting to gain accredited status will be able to utilise the academy’s highly rated facilities.

The VDA accreditation, which is renewable every 5 years, is in two parts with part A comprising an online theory assessment and part B being a series of practical assessments that are completed in one day.

Having provided part A assessment since November 2008, offering part B will make S&B Automotive Academy one of only three centres in the UK to deliver the vital qualification.

Once complete, successful candidates will then be entered onto the Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) register and hold a valid ATA ID card for five years, allowing them to provide essential car body assessment work on behalf of the insurance industry.

“For many small and medium-sized garages and workshops being able to carry out insurance work is vital to their survival.

“These assessments will mean staff can get accredited to the industry standards, which is what the major insurers look for when they are approving garages and workshops to work for them.”

To attain VDA accreditation candidates have to pass five practical assessments and an on-line knowledge test. They also have to have at least five years industry experience with a minimum of two years experience in an appropriate role.
