Old Cracker Fire Company Celebrates One Year Of Community Service

March 4, 2009 - PRLog -- (www.oldcrackerfirecompany.com)– It was a risk, a hope and a prayer but Old Cracker Fire Company owner Gary Guy has turned antique fire engines into a successful and unique business idea that entertains children and adults throughout the Tampa Bay area.

February marked the first anniversary of Old Cracker Fire Company which specializes in providing real, fully functional fire engines for events like children’s birthday parties, company picnics, parades, weddings and corporate training functions.

“It’s hard to believe it has been a year since we purchased our first fire engine” said Guy. “My wife and I were taking the kids to school one day when we happened to see a fire truck for sale locally. The only condition to buying it was that it had to pay for its own fuel and maintenance. It was then that Old Cracker was born however it was a fire engine in North Carolina that we ended up calling our own.”

Over the last year, the demand for their fire engine increased so much that they were turning away business. So, they locally franchised Old Cracker this past February and are looking at purchasing a third engine over the next three months.

“It’s an exciting time and we are extremely grateful for the community supporting such a unique business” said Guy.  

In addition to paid events, Guy also received a sponsorship from national fire safety provider Chief Supply for a program called E.D.I.T.H. (Exit Drills In The Home). Guy and his fire engine Emmette visit local civic organizations and clubs teaching fire safety to children and parents free of charge.

“Giving back to the community is very important to me. I have been given the humble opportunity to serve as both a fire fighter and a dad. We have taught our children E.D.I.T.H. and I know personally that it works. If I can help just one family with this program, it is worth every minute of my time.”
