Feb. 25, 2009 - PRLog -- The National Black Pre-Law Conference and Law Fair, the nation’s premier information-sharing and networking empowerment event for aspiring Black lawyers, is celebrating its fifth anniversary.  During this celebratory year, the conference is pleased to announce that Attorney Daryl K. Washington will deliver an inspiring keynote address.

Daryl K. Washington is a partner at Shackelford, Melton & McKinley, a law firm based in Dallas, Texas.  His legal experience includes representing clients in a variety of commercial and general litigation matters, settlement negotiations, depositions, mediations, contract and business practice disputes, and other matters involving complex and unique issues.  He represents clients before the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Texas State Securities Board.  Additionally, he provides legal advice for small business formations and assists businesses and individuals with contract negotiations.  Further, he serves as a consultant to professional athletes in their selection of an agent to represent them in contract negotiations.  His practice also includes representing a number of entertainers, including Michael Baisden and the Michael Baisden Show.

Attorney Washington has remained actively involved as a proven leader in the Dallas Bar Association, the J.L. Turner Legal Association, and the National Bar Association.  Currently, he serves as the deputy chief of staff for the National Bar Association.  A past recipient of the National Bar Association’s Entertainment, Sports and Art Law Section’s Attorney of the Year Award, he recently received the 2008 National Bar Association Presidential Award.

Most notably, he has taken the initiative to create important and greatly needed legal and community projects. He started Black Legal Issues (www.BlackLegalIssues.com), a popular website that focuses on news and legal commentary that impacts the Black community.  Moreover, he spearheaded the Unequal Justice Legal Defense & Educational Fund (www. UnequalJusticeLegalDefenseFund .com), which he chairs. This organization was created for the purpose of providing legal grants to disadvantaged individuals who are victims of racial and legal injustices, and those who would not have equal access to adequate legal representation and education.

Meet Attorney Daryl K. Washington at the Fifth Annual National Black Pre-Law Admissions & Preparation Conference and Law Fair 2009, which will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 and Saturday, November 7, 2009 in Houston, Texas. The purpose of the conference is not only to provide critical insider information about what it takes to achieve the goal of getting into law school, succeeding while there, passing the bar exam, and becoming a lawyer, but also to provide real life positive role models of successful African American lawyers and unparalleled networking opportunities.
