Elevators and escalators include new equipments and services. This industry is directly related to the construction industry. The trends and the movements of the construction industry impact the elevator and escalator market directly. Demand and order intake for new elevators tracks GDP growth and developments in construction activity with about a one-year lag.

The installed elevators and new installations are clearly divided among regions, between Western and emerging economies.
