Vietnam is a little larger than Italy, located in Southeast Asia on Indochina peninsula. It has immense geographic and cultural diversity. Its varied climate and scenery range from 4 seasons of the mountain north to year round tropical temperatures of the south.
It is sophisticated history varied cultural diversity more than 4,000 years that dated back the first millennium of Chinese occupation until the 10th century formed relic of pagodas, temples and influent Confucianism practice. Then uprising of Vietnam kingdom emperors against invaders to empower the state setting up Thang Long (soaring dragon) –Hanoi the capital. Ups and downs feudal regime constructed the Hue – centre Vietnam that reviewed as a second capital of state until year of 1945 in the 20th century left behind Citadel and Royal Tombs, Palace. In the end of the 18th century, French colonial legacy merged social activity and ways of life into western characteristics in 80 years ended in 1954 with Dien Bien Phu Battle field. The influence French style in architecture is an evident in many parts of Vietnam. Lastly the American intervention into the South Vietnam – Saigon for 30 years ended in 1975 to build modern city.
Vietnam is a country of lakes, ocean bays, rivers and mountains. I think of Chile, which also has a long coastline and mountains running the length of its spine. Unlike Chile, the rivers of Vietnam are long and navigable. There are always rivers and warm temperatures. With 3,200km coastlines stretching from north to south and mountainous regions where hill tribe people continue to live isolated from mainstream society. There are patchwork of rice paddies and fresh vegetation offering the agrarian lifestyle of eighty percent of Vietnam’s population. Today, most of the country remains relatively unchanged although in major city you will discover modern infrastructure and technology. Visitors can choose to travel at various levels of comfort, from budget to deluxe accommodation, public or private transportation, local restaurants or finer Vietnamese and international ones. Visitors are warmly welcomed by friendly local people
