Word of Mouth Spreads Big Adventures

Jan. 28, 2009 - PRLog -- Brisbane tour company Elia Tours is launching a ‘Learn to Surf’ weekend this month with the first trip set to go ahead over Valentine’s weekend.  

Managing Director Danni Cullen explained that as a tour company they never set out to run adventure weekends but now they are their most popular product. “Two years ago we started the company to run English language study tours for overseas visitors.  As we were setting up the business we ran some trial adventure weekends for our friends to see how it would all work and it hasn’t stopped since,” Danni explained.

Up until last month Elia Tours didn’t even market the adventure weekends because tours were regularly filled by word-of-mouth.  

“It seems that the local people in Brisbane really want to go out and explore but the thought of being on a bus with a large group of backpackers is quite off-putting,” Danni explains.  “Almost by accident we have come up with small group adventure tours that locals just can’t get enough of.  People just keep coming back and bringing more friends with them.”  

Elia Tours runs a number of tours including a monthly trail riding weekend, and the typical cliental includes barristers, computer programmers, doctors and teachers.

“Our tours have a maximum of 14 guests so everyone can relax and enjoy some personal attention instead of being just a number.  We also strive to provide a high quality experience.  No-one looks glamorous after a weekend of trail riding” Danni says, “but if they have spent that time riding a beautiful Arabian horse through the some great country, stopping to enjoy a gourmet picnic next to a creek then no-one ever complains.”  Elia Tours also organises personalised weekends for groups of five or more and Danni says that these weekends are becoming extremely popular for hens and bucks weekends as well as birthday celebrations.  

The success of these tours, and the reason why people are talking, is due to the team at Elia Tours working hard to meet the needs of their cliental.  “The surf weekends have come about from our regular customers asking us to organise new adventures for them and their friends,” Danni says.   “So we went out and spent a great deal of time looking for a place that might work for a surfing tour and after a lot of searching we found the most beautiful spot with great accommodation right on the beach, away from the main tourist hangouts  with a really laid back vibe!  It really is going to get people talking when they see it!”
