Jan. 13, 2009 - PRLog -- It’s 1956 and Steven Leroy Zienner is a thriving and wealthy businessman with companies in California, North Dakota, Ohio and Mississippi.  Zienner, his wife, and their two daughters and son are living the good life and all the amenities that come with it.   But success often comes with a price and Zienner will pay the ultimate cost—a death of a family member, an unspeakable act committed against one of his children, and the estrangement from his children.

When Zienner’s employees confront him about their concerns about their very poor work environment, Zienner ignores their pleas.  Two disgruntled employees take matters into their own hands by spreading false rumors about Zienner’s business practices to the press and community.  Those rumors set off a chain of events that forever change his life, his business, and the lives of his family.

Zienner’s businesses begin to lose their market value and he begins a downward spiral that causes him to lose faith in himself and everything he’s ever held dear.

But what were the things he held so dear?  Money?  Business?  Status?

Steven Leroy Zienner represents the essence of greed and hubris.  Dampier’s ability to create a character that the reader hates, then sympathizes with, then loves and then cheers for is sheer genius.  The setting, characters, plotline, and dialogue are spot on for the time period.  This novel of redemption will stay with you long after the final page is turned.
