Dec. 8, 2008 - PRLog -- The Hotel Galvez, A Wyndham® Historic Hotel, is celebrating the holiday season with Santa, holiday music, and a special gingerbread display.  Santa Claus will make a special appearance during brunch at the hotel’s new Sunday Brunch with Santa on Dec. 14 and 21. During the month of December, the hotel is scheduling live holiday music on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 10 pm and Sundays, from 11 am to 2 pm. Guests will also enjoy a gingerbread replica of the Hotel Galvez created by Executive Chef Jerry Helminski.

“The Hotel Galvez is known for its long-standing Sunday Brunch and the hotel is pleased to add this special holiday guest to this Sunday tradition,” says Food and Beverage Manager Jeremy Bukac.  “Santa, holiday entertainment and our new gingerbread display will really put our guests in the holiday spirit.”

Helminski plans to add some holiday themed brunch items to the menu as well as hot cider and holiday desserts. Sunday brunch features an array of fruit and cheeses, freshly prepared breads and pastries, an omelet station, pasta bar, and various breakfast and lunch entrees as well as a dessert room.

Seafood entrees include Gulf shrimp, oysters on the half shell, cocktail shrimp and crab claws served with spicy remoulade and cocktail sauce. The carving station features prime rib, bourbon glazed ham and sage rubbed turkey.  Brunch also includes complimentary champagne and mimosas or a Bloody Mary bar for an additional cost.

Brunch is $32 for adults, $28 for seniors (60 years or older) and $19 for children ages 6 to 12.  Children ages 5 and younger are complimentary. Reservations are highly recommended.  Brunch is served between 11 am and 2 pm with the final seating at 2 pm.

The Hotel Galvez was built as a symbol of Galveston’s resilience following the Great Storm of 1900 and following Hurricane Ike reopened to the public on Oct. 15.  The hotel sustained minimal damage from Hurricane Ike.
