Moss & Associates Completes Three South Florida School Modernization Projects

MODERNIZATION PROJECTS TOTALING $49.5 MILLION

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.  – Moss & Associates, one of Florida’s largest construction management companies, recently completed three South Florida public school modernization projects totaling $49.5 million.  
“School districts recognize the educational and cost-saving advantages of updating existing facilities with today’s energy-efficient systems and other environmentally friendly features,” said Bob Moss, president and CEO of Moss & Associates, whose education portfolio includes more than $400 million in completed, under-construction or committed projects in the last four years.  
For the Palm Beach County School District, Moss & Associates completed a
$26 million construction project that modernized Forest Park Elementary School, a Boynton Beach landmark built in 1956. The project built 84,745 square feet of new space in classrooms, cafeteria, playfields, parking, and a parent drop-off and pick-up area. A computer laboratory with state-of-the-art language learning applications is one of a host of new features that provide a strong foundation for the school’s planned International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Forest Park Principal Sharon Brannon said, “We worked with the Moss team to transform Forest Park into a 21st century elementary school – from high-technology classrooms and efficient, sustainable lighting, cooling and plumbing systems, to the new science lab, art patio and outdoor learning space with butterfly-attracting plants.”
Moss & Associates recently received a 2008 Palm Beach County School District Partner Award for its pivotal role in managing the improvements to Forest Park Elementary – one of only three firms that received the Partner Award this year.  
For the School Board of Broward County, Moss & Associates completed two school modernization projects in Hollywood: a $13.4 million, 44,086-square-foot project for Apollo Middle School; and a $10 million, 18,484-square-foot project for Boulevard Heights Elementary School.  Moss is also managing a $13.2 million modernization of Peters Elementary, Plantation, scheduled for completion in December 2008.
