Dr. Goran B. Klintmalm has been named an honored member in healthcare by Princeton Premier.

Dr. Goran B. Klintmalm, chief and chairman of Baylor University Medical Center’s Regional Transplant Institute in Dallas, has been chosen for inclusion in the 2008-2009 Princeton Premier Registry.
 
Nov. 12, 2008 - PRLog -- Dr. Goran B. Klintmalm is the chief and chairman of Baylor University Medical Center’s Regional Transplant Institute in Dallas.   He has been in this capacity since 1995 and is responsible for overseeing all organ transplants and for directing the operations of the department and staff that specialize in transplant surgery.  Dr. Klintmalm also serves as director of the Dallas Liver Transplant Program, and in 1997 performed the world's first extracorporeal perfusion (bridge to transplant) using a genetically altered pig liver, which allowed the patient to successfully undergo liver transplantation. In 1999, he performed the first split liver transplant in North Texas. He is the author of more than 600 publications, including the second edition of the major textbook on liver transplantation, and continues to maintain an international database of liver transplantation for tumors. Dr. Klintmalm’s research interests include liver, kidney and small bowel transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery and immunosuppression.  He earned his medical degree and Ph.D. from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, and completed his surgical residency in transplantation at the University of Colorado Health Science Center and University of Pittsburgh Medical School.  He is a member of the Surgical Advisory Committee, the Cancer Center Executive Committee, the Transplant Review Committee and the Data Management Committee.  He is also an esteemed member of the Southwest Transplant Alliance, the National Kidney Foundation and the American Medical Association.  Dr. Klintmalm is active within the Dallas community and supports several programs that benefit medical research and promote education.  In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, hunting, scuba diving and reading.
