Award-Winning Guitarist to perform with The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle

The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle’s November 16 concert will feature a performance by award-winning guitarist Robert Belinić. The concert will be held at the Carolina Theatre in Durham at 3 p.m.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (November 11, 2008) – Lorenzo Muti, artistic director and conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle (www.thecot.org), announces today its November 16 concert will feature a performance by award-winning guitarist, Robert Belinić. The 3 p.m. concert will be held at the Carolina Theatre of Durham.
The concert will consist of performances of Joaquin Rodrigo’s “Concierto de Aranjuez,” with Belinić as guest guitarist, and Manuel De Falla’s “Seven Popular Spanish Songs”and “El Amor Brujo,” with Mary Gayle Green as guest vocalist.

“Robert Belinić plays with such an intense fervor and communicates an emotional involvement to his art form,” says Muti. “It is alluring to watch as his passion for sound is revealed before his audience.”

Belinić is the first guitarist to win a place on Young Concert Artists roster. His repertoire includes performances at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in New York, as well as soloist appearances with the Phoenix Symphony and the Paducah Symphony Orchestra in Kentucky, among others. Belinić’s appearance is sponsored by The Charles & Shirley Weiss Endowment for Young Soloists. The endowment is committed to bringing young and emerging musicians to perform in the Triangle.

About Robert Belinić:
Robert Belinić received his musical training from the Leopold Mozart School of Music in Augsburg, Germany, where he held an assistantship and earned a Master’s Degree with Prof. Franz Halász. He is the winner of the 2002 Young Concert Artists International Auditions (YCA), and was also awarded YCA’s Fergus New Artist Prize. The YCA has enabled Belinić to give recitals and soloist performances with orchestras in the U.S., at Wichita Symphony Orchestra in Kansas, the Fox Valley Symphony in Appleton, Wisconsin; the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle in Raleigh, North Carolina; and the South Bend Symphony Orchestra in Indiana.
