Oct. 29, 2008 - PRLog -- Calgary Publishing House takes prominent role in this year’s World Fantasy Convention October 29 - November 2.

(Calgary, Alberta) Hades Publications is proud to take a prominent role in this year’s World Fantasy Convention October 29 - November 2. The convention brings together over 800 authors, publishers and editors from around the world celebrating the fantasy literary genre.  Participants have come from Europe, Australia, USA, Canada and Japan to attend workshops, see what is new in the fantasy publishing world, and meet people like Brian Hades, Calgary publisher and owner of Hades Publications.

Calgary's own Hades Publications is recognized as being Canada's largest genre publisher - a feat achieved in less than 10 years.

Hades stills recalls sitting with a cup of hot chocolate at a Denny's restaurant writing out a business plan on a napkin. Now, Hades Publications holds the imprints EDGE Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing, Tesseract Books, Dragon Moon Press and Absolute XPress.  This year the publishing house will produce 18 books, and will be taking on a huge role in this week's World Fantasy Convention.

"From the Wednesday night before the convention, right to the very end of the event on Sunday, there will be an exciting array of opportunities for people to meet our authors, discover our books, and even dance!", says Brian Hades, publisher.

The dancing part takes place on Wednesday night, when Hades Publications will be presenting The Plaid Tongued Devils - one of Canada's most intriguing bands, who play an artful blend of gypsy music, klezmer and ska. There will even be two dualling violins!

"It is a great way to both open up the con, and celebrate the launch of our new books" says Hades.

During the convention itself, there will be an opportunity to meet some of Hades Publications authors, at the Hades Publications booth which will showcase past and current titles by its imprints.

" It is an excellent way for people to get to know the authors, and learn more about the books.  Where else can you meet your favorite authors, and have some of the world's best fantasy and science fiction at your finger tips to hold, read, and explore?" Hades continues." People will also have a chance to participate in our multi-author book launch on Saturday."

The launch features a number of the new Hades Publications titles, and in honor of Hades inspirational beverage of choice years before...there will be chocolate.
