Hot Brazilian Spirit Set to Warm Up the Cold Halifax Winter

Cuca Fresca comes to East Coast Halifax with Vin Art Wines and Ikon True Russian Vodka

Oct. 5, 2008 - PRLog -- Cuca Fresca Exports, LLC and Ikon Spirits Inc have just announced it will launch its line of premium organic cachaças in Nova Scotia in October and will be available at Vin Art Wine and Spirits. Cachaça, a Brazilian spirit made from fresh pressed sugarcane juice, has been taking North America by storm over the last year and its signature cocktail, the Caipirinha, has been dubbed by main industry experts as the “It Cocktail” of 2008.


Leading the charge is Cuca Fresca’s line of premium cachaças which won a Double Gold Medal at the prestigious 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and were the highest rated unaged and wood-aged cachaças in the Beverage Testing Institute’s International Spirits Competition, where they won two gold medals. Created by a Brazilian family with four generations of cachaça-making experience, Cuca Fresca is handcrafted using artisanal methods passed down for decades. Each batch of cachaça is made from organically grown sugarcane that has been harvested from a single source, and each bottle is filled with cachaça from a single batch that has been double distilled in copper pots and then triple filtered. Their Pura Gold Cachaça is then put in English Oak barrels to age for a minimum of three years and is meant to be enjoyed neat or on the rocks. This production method affords Cuca Fresca the ability to closely control every step of the cachaça-making process and continue to deliver a consistently premium product.


While interest in cachaça has been sparked by the enormous recent popularity of the caipirinha, mixologists across the US and Canada have begun creating a wide range of new cocktails using the spirit. The following recipes were created exclusively for Cuca Fresca and are particularly well suited to the winter months: Cuca Fresca has also been listed with Ontario´s LCBO and will be available in their Vintage Stores begining in 09.
Autumn Night
1.5 oz. Cuca Fresca Premium Cachaça
¾ oz. Cointreau
½ oz. Fresh Sour Mix
Two Slices of Fresh Orange
Splash Orange Juice
Splash Cranberry Juice
Carambola to garnish

Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice,
shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass, garnish with a carambola slice.





Cranberry Blaze
2 oz. Cuca Fresca Premium Cachaca
2 oz. Cranberry Juice
1 oz. Simple Syrup
1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
Rosemary sprig and fresh cranberries to garnish


Combine the Cuca Fresca, cranberry juice, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup in an ice-filled shaker and shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glass. For garnish: Put three fresh cranberries on the end of a piece of rosemary. Right before serving, light the tip of the of the rosemary to release the aroma.
