| XTremBol Invades Prudential Center & Newark, NJSunday, September 29, 2008 marked start of an era at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.: The inaugural XTremBol Street Soccer Tournament. XTremBol is a fusion of a rapid street soccer, music and culture.
By: XTremBol Soccer fans and music lovers alike came out in the pouring rain to see teams from Morristown, Dover, Harrison, Newark, as well as Philadelphia, PA. The XTremBol Tournament featured caged 4 v. 4 street soccer games, local/regional artists and DJs. The games started at 9:00am and ran until the early evening. Teams battled it out to live performances by artists such as O.T. y La Union Del Barrio, featuring LuDe B; Daylon Alexander; Mu$icEl; Top Notch, Armando "Son" Jimenez, and to the beats of Supreme Team’s DJs NoGood and DJ Bebo; DJ Arias, DJ Cachimbo, DJ Alex Gomez, DJ Rombo y Su Rumba and DJ YeYe. Making special appearances at the tournament was Tony Meola, goalie for the NJ Ironmen and former goalie for the US National Team and his NJ Ironmen teammates Goran Vasic, midfielder from Belgrade, Serbia, and Nebo Stamenkovic, forward from Belgrade, Serbia; the nationally ranked varsity soccer team from St. Benedict's Preparatory School of Newark, N.J.; the Red Bulls Street Team; and the Red Bulls Wiiings Team. The championship game pitted crowd-favorite Montenegro from Morristown, NJ, against powerhouse Master Railing from Wharton, NJ. After a scoreless 20 minutes, Montenegro came out on top in a nail-biting penalty shootout. “Despite the rain the tournament turned out exactly as we had envisioned. Soccer, music and cultures. High caliber street soccer and exhilarating music. XTremBol street soccer is here ... spread the word,” said Andres Torres, one of XTremBol’s founders. “Through our continued friendship with the NJ Ironmen, we are looking to have our next event in the next several weeks.
