Oct. 1, 2008 - PRLog -- The Authentic Seacoast™ Properties today announced Meg Ternes of Vancouver as the winner of the Nova Scotia Authentic Seacoast Getaway Contest.

Located at the head of Nova Scotia’s Chedabucto Bay, the largest bay on the Atlantic Coast, the Authentic Seacoast™ Properties (http://www.authenticseacoast.com) invited people to share their favourite places to play from the Authentic Seacoast 101, the definitive list of more than 101 things to do on the Bay’s more than 600 kilometres of shoreline that stretch from the southern shores of Cape Breton Island to the easternmost point of mainland Nova Scotia.

“We had hundreds of people share their favourite experiences with us,” stated Audrey Firth, General Manager of the Authentic Seacoast™ Properties in making the announcement. “From the beautiful scenery of Fogarty’s Cove, to summer concerts on the Guysborough waterfront, blueberry picking on the Barrens, dining at DesBarres Manor Inn, the views from the Osprey Shores golf course, the Stan Rodger’s folk festival, fishing the Salmon River and the tranquility of Mussel Cove, we were overwhelmed by the number of entries and the love people have for our special part of the world on the Atlantic coast.”

The contest winner, Meg Ternes from Vancouver, British Columbia, said her favourite activity on the Authentic Seacoast was the weekly summer concerts on the Guysborough waterfront below the Rare Bird Pub & Eatery. In her winning entry about the summer concerts, Ms. Ternes said she enjoyed the “cool ocean breeze, good music, good company and fun times” on the waterfront. Ms. Ternes will receive an Authentic Seacoast Getaway Package for two at Osprey Shores Golf Resort (http://www.ospreyshoresresort.com), one of Atlantic Canada’s most picturesque golf resorts.

Milena Donovan of Mississauga received the runner-up prize of a Rare Bird Pub & Eatery gift certificate for choosing blueberry picking on the Barrens as her favourite activity on the Authentic Seacoast.  Ms. Donovan said the Barrens were a “peaceful place to spend with family and friends.”

The Authentic Seacoast Getaway contest is part of the Authentic Seacoast Properties campaign to build awareness of the beauty of Nova Scotia’s Authentic Seacoast region and the outdoor adventure that awaits people on Chedabucto Bay.  From secluded coves and beaches, to historic sites, coastal hiking and cycling trails, festivals and events, back roads and fishing wharves, the Authentic Seacoast 101 defines Chedabucto Bay as a major travel and getaway destination in Nova Scotia.
