Sept. 25, 2008 - PRLog -- The highly popular Retail jewellery exhibition “Jewels of India” is back in Bangalore next month (October 18 -21) with the renowned actress, Jaya Prada, as its Brand Ambassador. The tenth edition promises to be one of the best jewellery fair ever witnessed in India with Kannada actress, the nubile Minal Patil also pitching in for the show.  All the past shows so far have had a tremendous reception from the city’s jewellery lovers and fashion conscious denizens prompting the organizers to improvise and enhance the quality and content of the show every passing year.

“Jaya Prada is the epitome of Indian classical beauty, acclaimed as an actress, and unequivocally accepted by most Indians as the most beautiful Indian woman. She has grace, poise and charisma and is a perfect face for the tenth Jewel of India expo symbolizing the personality and the versatility in the show,” said Sandeep Bekal, Convener, Jewels of India.

“From reel to real life, I have been fortunate to have been intricately associated with jewellery,” says Jaya Prada when reminded of a movie where she was presented with a pearl necklace worth a million rupees by the hero, “and being associated with the Jewels of India show is indeed a privilege and a big honour.” She goes on to say, “It being held in Bangalore is an even more gratifying part as I love the city, I love to be here, because I have been fortunate enough to have won the love and appreciation of Karnataka.” Does India’s most beautiful woman need jewellery at all? She blushes at the question and says, “I don’t know if I need jewellery, but yes, I love them!”

Minal Patil, Kannada movie star, part-time designer and stylist is also perfect to associate with the Jewel of India show. Says she, “I appreciate and value art in all formats. For me jewellery is also a very succinct form of art. Hence I am very thrilled to be associated with the Jewels of India show.” Does she have any favourities? “Like all women, I love jewellery of all kinds but yes, I do adore temple jewellery – the 1940s kind,” she answers.

Mr. Sandeep Bekal, the convenor adds that the Jewels of India Jewellery exhibition is worth it’s wait in Gold !  The Exhibition is being organized at the right time.  One reason why woman should visit this Show is because this is the best time to invest your money in Gold and Jewellery as the stock prices are going down but the Gold prices are going up.  Secondly the Exhibition is being held before Diwali and Marriage Season, the perfect time to shop for Jewellery.

He says, this year we have added an AC Hanger to accommodate more Jewellers.  In the 10th year the woman of Bangalore and Karnataka can look forward to some great Jewellery from all parts of India. Classic Kundan and Meenakari from Jaipur, everlasting Temple and Antique Jewellery from Tamilnadu, Exotic Thewa from Rajasthan, Designerwear and Branded Diamond Jewellery from Mumbai and Pondicherry, Handcrafted Gold Jewellery from Kolkata, Bridal collection, Bangle Collection, Fusion Jewellery and more.  Infact he feels that the Jewellery on display this year will be the best ever as some of the leading names in Jewellery are participating in the Exhibition like Prathiba Jewellers and Panch Kesari from Bangalore, Amrapali from Jaipur, White Fire Diamonds from Pondichery, Sindhar Gems from Kolkata etc.

Last but not Least, this year we are having an extra day in the form of a ‘VIP Evening’.  We realized that a lot of High Profile and High worth clients are shying away from the Exhibition because of the huge crowd turnout.  Therefore, for such people we are having a ‘VIP Evening’ by invitations only.

Mr. Sandeep Bekal promises that it would be a great Jewellery Shopping experience of a life time for the woman of Bangalore and Karnataka and that every woman would be tempted to buy Jewellery because a wide variety and range of Jewellery is available under a single roof to suit all tastes and budgets.

Jewels of India

The first ‘Jewels of India’ retail Jewellery Exhibition was held in Bangalore ten years ago at Hotel Ashoka in August 1999. South India till then did not have any such exhibitions whereas they were happening frequently in cities such as New Delhi and Calcutta. With Bangalore, as with the rest of south India, known for its fetish for gold and jewellery of all kinds, Mr. Sandeep Bekal of Expoworld hit upon the idea of hoisting a similar exhibition aimed at Bangalore’s jewellery lovers. Thus the first “Jewels of India” came to be. It opened with a bang, being launched by Mrs. Parvattamma Rajkumar. The masses loved it and the resounding feedback convinced the organizers to make it an annual event.

It was to portray the elegance, depth and substance in the show that the ‘Jewels of India’ organizers chose to have a brand ambassador who would convey the essence of the exhibition. In doing so, ‘Jewels of India’ became the only show of its kind to have brand ambassador. Some of the famed film personalities who have been the part of Jewels of India over the years are Vani Ganapathy, Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Bhagyashree and many others.

The ‘Jewels of India’ has become an eagerly awaited retail exhibition by Bangaloreans for a variety of reasons. The huge participation of retail jewellers, collection of jewellery from all parts of the India, the quality of jewellery, the best of offers and deals and it being held just before the advent of festival season, makes the exhibition a hit among the jewellery lovers. The exhibition itself is organized with an eye for detail and assures the best of buying experience.

The lure of jewellery at the exhibition is such that ‘Jewels of India’ boasts that no women will go empty handed from the show! The exhibition has come a long way since 1999 and is now estimated to have become India’s number one retail jewellery show. This year’s show will be the tenth and most extravagant so far with an increase in the size of jewellery displayed, visitors and expected sales
