DETROIT, MI —Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment (SAFE) is hosting its first “SAFE Health and Wealth Expo” to be held Saturday, October 25, 2008, from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm at the Northwest Activities Center located at 18100 Meyers Road, Detroit, Michigan. The theme for the 2008 Expo is “Realizing the Health and Wealth Connection”. The SAFE Health and Wealth Expo is a free event open to all members of the Metropolitan Detroit community.  
The SAFE Health and Wealth Expo includes workshops, community organization outreach tables and resources on topics such as healthy living on a budget, stress reduction, job seeking tips, domestic violence and personal finance.  The SAFE Health and Wealth Expo also includes free lunch, health screenings, giveaways, business attire fashion show, free massages and sample packs from various sponsors. The SAFE Health and Wealth Expo strives to increase access to free and low cost community based health and financial providers. All workshop topics will bridge the need for maintaining or improving your health while building, establishing or growing your personal finances.  Participants will gain tips, techniques and resources that they can begin to utilize immediately in assisting them toward reaching their personal health and financial goals.

Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment (SAFE) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to equip survivors of domestic violence with the appropriate financial tools and resources needed to enable women to leave or recover form the economic portion of domestic violence.  October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
