PRLog -- Dr. Jeri W. Dunkin, Ph.D., R.N., is a professor, chair of rural nursing and the director of practice and community partnerships at the University of Alabama. Dr. Dunkin received a bachelor's degree in nursing from East Tennessee University, a master's degree in public health and a Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Dunkin is the Martha Lucinda Luker Saxon chair for rural nursing at the Capstone College of Nursing and focuses her service and research activities on rural health care. As director of faculty practice and community partnerships, she developed a nurse-managed center for the provision of primary care for the underserved residents of southern Walker County, Alabama and facilitated related services for the College of Nursing. Dr. Dunkin maintains her own practice in the area of medical cost management and provides service learning opportunities for graduate students in rural nursing case management. Dr. Dunkin was awarded a grant from DHHS, HRSA, BHPr, in July 2006 to expand these outreach services to the five adjacent counties of the Northwest Alabama Mental Health Center to include tele-health monitoring of chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, COPD and CHF. Dr. Dunkin is equally active in the community and supports charities that benefit motor tumor research. In her spare time, Dr. Dunkin enjoys motorcycling, travel and being with family.
In recognition of an outstanding career as professor, chair of rural nursing and the director of practice and community partnerships at the University of Alabama, Dr. Jeri W.
