Pritchett defends his scenes by stating “We have completed more research than watching Youtube videos of young people tripping on salvia. The scenes we created in our movie are from salvia users who describe their experience with the drug. Yes, some of the scenes have been enhanced for a dramatic effect but overall these are the experiences we researched and we chose to place online. Not every scene about salvia is a bad experience in our movie; there is a scene in which one man is seen in a claim environment and has a pleasant trip, which is how salvia should be used. But just as in real life, there are people who have “a bad salvia trip”. However: In one scene a man on salvia is shot is the head when a known drug dealer walks up to find him on the ground tripping on salvia. The dealer was fed up because he could not make any money, so he shot the man in the head and walked away. Pritchett’ Pritchett welcomes any debate on salvia and believes that generally, he is aware there is some level of difference in the positions between users of salvia and people who don’t use salvia. Pritchett said “I think everyone can agree that it is reasonable and appropriate to prohibit delivery of salvia to minors. If people want to use salvia there should be laws that control its use. We should take a sensible approach like the way our society controls alcohol and tobacco. I don’t believe we should lock up salvia users, but if they want to continue their use it is important that misunderstandings with law makers be acted upon quickly. I am not a law maker, I’m a filmmaker”. “Beachwood Drive” is an action packed drama that started online as an internet series and is seen in over 36 countries with over 400,000 viewers and more than 40,000 links to the scenes.
