“Sport and Art, Cheer for the Olympics” Fine Art Collection created for Olympic 2008

Aug. 17, 2008 - PRLog -- Art complete the spirit of the Olympic Games. Especially in 2008, there is a creative art and sport program, which make art and sport combine naturally. Sport express the human desire to be “Faster, Higher, Stronger.” And art express people’s hope to be peace, beautiful and perfect.
The purpose of passing the Olympic torch by way of relay was to spread the Olympic spirit and make the seeds of peace and friendship root, grow, bloom and bear fruits in more countries.
And the purpose of this special portfolio is to record the friendship between different culture and different countries. The five rings represent the close unity and friendly meeting at the Olympics among athletes from five continents. So we invite 27 best Artists in the world to catch this moment with their excellent imagination.
During the Olympic Games, there have always been some excellent athletes who can win great honors. Nevertheless, their fame is not simply built on how many gold medals they have won but their unusual personality that has shown the Olympic spirit. Art use the way without words to record the Olympic spirit and this special art portfolio show mutual understanding,
friendship, unity from different culture.
This art collection celebrates not just a sportive global event, but also of all the cultures that will meet and measure themselves in Beijing for the Olimpic Games 2008.Barletta, Basilé, Breccia, Canogar, Cascella, Chia, Clemente, De Cadenet, Di Fabio, Galliani, Gallo, Gould, Gupta, Hyang, Isaac, Kounellis, Liu Mu, Zhang Wei Guang known as Mirror, Mauri, Montesano, Nespolo, Paladino, Pignatelli, Pizzi Cannella, Sweetlove, Sosabravo and Zhou Zhiwei have created lithographs, serigraphs, etchings and photographs. Amongst those, young Artists as Basilè, Pignatelli, Di Fabio, De Cadenet; Artists internationally wellknown as Canogar, Chia, Clemente, Gupta, Kounellis, Mauri, Paladino, Sweetlove; Artists already famous Galliani, Gallo, Liu Mu, Montesano, Nespolo, Pizzi Cannella, Sosabravo.
The Organizing Committee of the Olympic Fine Arts of Beijing 2008 committed Giuseppe Marino and me to realize this portfolio of graphic artworks of important Artists on the Olympic theme to commemorate  and celebrate this big event.
Giuseppe Marino also realized a portfolio for the Sarajevo’s Olympics in 1983, where Artists as Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Folon, Moore, Dorazio, Rosenquist, Hocney, Paladino, Hogkins and many others participated.
His valuable experience has been determinant for the realization of this special program. It has been difficult for us to organize this portfolio because of the short time frame, but we successfully completed it in three months.
This time in QingDao we are very happy to see that this portfolio can be used as charity event and add color to people's daily life during Olympic Games.
Especially thanks to Italian Ambassador, Mr. Riccardo Sessa. We want to say thanks to Mr. Marco Pardini, Mr. Enrico Zanella and Mr. Alessandro Missana and all friends work for this event such as Soada Renzoni and Lucia.

Funds raised from this event will be donated through the “Embassy of Italy - Italy for Wenchuan earthquake program”. The money collected will be delivered by the Ambassador of Italy to China so as Chinese Authorities can choose the best way to employ donations.
