Aug. 16, 2008 - PRLog -- 1. Okoboji Country Inn: Unlike the typical Victorian bed-and-breakfast, the Okoboji Country Inn just blocks away from Arnolds Park has an updated twist and provides guests with a luxury experience in a restored farm house, according to host Donna Muilenburg.

"We generally have guests who are looking for a quiet lake experience," said Muilenburg. "We try to be very lake luxury-oriented with everything we do at the B&B as well as at our gift shop: The Wash House."

Muilenburg and her daughter, Ann Muilenburg, are entering their second Year as owners of the Okoboji Country Inn, which has five themed bedrooms and one spacious suite that features its own sunroom.

Double-occupancy rates range from $135 to $230 per night depending on the room type, time of year, holiday and special events, and includes breakfast.

2. InnSpiration Bed and Breakfast: This is a new country bed and breakfast that overlooks a two acre pond and is adjacent to 360 beautiful wooded acres that run along side the Little Sioux River. The pond and the Little Sioux River offer guests swimming, fishing, hiking, canoeing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, bird watching, and more. This sportman's paradise also offers special hunts for deer, turkey and pheasants, in season.

3. The Living Vine Bed and Breakfast:  According to innkeeper s Norine and Ron Powell, our bed-and-breakfast is very calming and feels like you are an honored guest in someone's home.  The Living Vine is located West Bend, Iowa, the home of the famous Redemption Grotto.

The Grotto is open year round and is very popular over the Labor Day holiday with guided tours given from May 1 – October 16. Daily tours are every hour from 10 AM – 5 PM. The Living Vine is an excellent lodging choice for Grotto visitors.

4. The Hartwig House: For a true Victorian bed and breakfast experience, the Hartwig House in Denision, Iowa, is the destination when planning a Labor Day trip in northwest Iowa.

The Hartwig House was built in 1892 and since that time has only been in the ownership of two families. This Victorian gem is huge and guests will enjoy large bedrooms and private bathrooms with tub and shower. The inn is unique in that the “Inn” is quite private from the Innkeeper and staff’s part of the house.
