The survey, conducted in July 2008, asked 1200 adults across North America, “When selecting a realtor for the first time, what did you base your choice on?” An overwhelming majority (72%) indicated that the reputation of the real estate company was more important than that of the real estate agent. An agent referred by a friend was a distant second with just 14% and, rounding out the four most popular answers, were the number of “For Sale” signs visible on lawns (7%) and using a real estate agent you know personally (7%).
