Follow on Google News | Jeremy Schonfeld To Play New York’s The Cutting RoomOne Show only on Monday, August 18th at 8:00pm
Hailed by The New York Times as a blend of Jonathan Larson and Billy Joel, Schonfeld's singular blend of tuneful pop, hard-edged rock, gospel, soul and blues has made him one of today's most sought after musical theater composers. The recently released album, 37 Notebooks, features some of Broadway’s hottest vocal talents, including: Shoshana Bean, Lauren Kennedy, Julia Murney, Adam Pascal, Kate Shindle, Amy Spanger, and Tracie Thoms, among others. Early reviews of the album herald it as a collection of “songs that play together like some kind of musical of the mind” (Blogcritics Magazine) … “a head above most musicians out there today” (Pop Stars Plus) …“playful and adventurous … offer(ing) every fan of strong songwriting [something] that they can attach themselves to” (Are You On Something.com)… Some upcoming projects for Jeremy include “37 Notebooks concerts” at various University musical theater departments, where students will collaborate with Jeremy and some guest stars to perform material from the album in big end-of-the-semester productions. Jeremy will also be involved with a number of benefit concerts this Fall, one of which is his own DRIFT, to be directed by Lauren Kennedy, and to star Adam Pascal, Julia Murney, Michael Park, Jarrod Emick, Karla Mosley, Scott Coulter, Terrance Mann, and more at New World Stages on November 3rd. He will also be participating in the 'Broadway Make-a-Wish Benefit Concert', 'Broadway United for Barack', and the 1st Annual 'Broadway In Cape Town Concert’. Jeremy is also the music director and guest performer for Broadway Bootcamp, a week-long series of intensive Broadway-training workshops with financially challenged young performers that culminates in a final concert presentation. The next one is slated to take place in Chicago this Fall. As a solo performer, Schonfeld’s recent engagements include Birdland, Joe's Pub, BB King's; ArsNova; Lincoln Center; Juilliard Opera Theater; Symphony Space; CBGBs; Southpaw; The Zipper Theater; and opening for James Taylor.
