US Broadband Penetration Breaks 90% among Active Internet Users - July 2008 Bandwidth Report

July 28, 2008 - PRLog -- Website Optimization http://www.websiteoptimization.com is announcing today that for the first time, US broadband penetration broke ninety percent among active Internet users in June 2008. Broadband jumped to 90.5% in June, up 0.53 percentage points over the previous month.

Home Connectivity in the US

US broadband penetration grew to 90.49% in June 2008. Dial-up users connecting at 56Kbps or less now make up 9.51% of active Internet users, down 0.53 percentage points from 10.04% in May 2008 (see Figure 1). http://www.websiteoptimization.com/bw/0807/

Broadband Growth Trends in the US

In June 2008, broadband penetration among active Internet users in US homes grew by 0.53 percentage points to 90.49%, up from 89.96% in May. This increase of 0.53 points is below the average increase in broadband of 0.61 points per month over the last six months (see Figure 2). http://www.websiteoptimization.com/bw/0807/

Work Connectivity

As of June 2008, 96.47% of US workers connected to the Internet with broadband, up 0.52 percentage points from the 95.95% share in May. At work, 3.53% connect at 56Kbps or less (see Figure 3). http://www.websiteoptimization.com/bw/0807/
