Pathways of Spirituality, Fall 2008 - Spring 2010

Pathways of Spirituality is a two-year, four unit program for men and women seeking to broaden and deepen their experience of spirituality. Participants will be enriched by exposure to practices and disciplines of various traditions.

June 27, 2008 - PRLog -- Pathways of Spirituality is a two-year, four unit program for men and women seeking to broaden and deepen their experience of spirituality. Participants will be enriched by exposure to practices and disciplines of various traditions. The program is experiential in nature and emphasizes the importance of building community in order to strengthen the experience of spiritual growth.

Participants may register for any or all of the units; classes meet on selected Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. Each unit includes a one-day retreat (usually a Saturday).

Those who complete all four units will receive a Certificate of Spiritual Formation from the Spiritual Life Center.

In community and through listening, sharing, contemplation, directed writing and creative expressions, participants will explore the following four units:

Encountering God: Unit 1
Topics Include
* Images and Names of the Divine
* Metaphors for the Journey
* Spirituality and Religion
* Abrahamic Faiths
* Energy Work and Eastern Wisdom
* Sacred Texts

Relationship With God: Unit 2
Topics Include
* Beliefs and Baggage
* Authenticity
* Spiritual Practices for Daily Living
* Labyrinth & Examen of Consciousness
* Centering Prayer
* Mysticism
* 12-step Spirituality

Called to Community: Unit 3
Topics Include
* Exploring Community
* Body, Mind, Spirit
* Life in the Family
* Ritual as Expression of Community
* Paradox of Community
* Appreciative Inquiry
* Suffering, Death & Grief

Sent in Service: Unit 4
Topics Include
* Call
* Models for Leadership
* Power and Authority
* Generativity
* Peace and Justice
* Integrity of the Earth

Those seeking admission to the Pathways program are asked to complete an application. All application materials for the fall 2008 unit should be received at the Center by June 15, 2008. We request a non-refundable $25 application fee with your application forms. You may apply to future semesters/units at any time and may attend any or all the units. The number of participants is limited, and early submission is encouraged. Applicants selected for admission will be notified when the interview process is completed.

The cost of the Pathways program is $375 per unit, limited scholarship funds for this program are available. Please call the Center for more information.
