PRLog -- Dr. Laureen Wishom, Chief Solutionary Officer (CSO) of Masterpiece Solutions, LLC, announces the conclusion of her study of female representation on Houston area corporate boards. Dr. Wishom researched Houston’s top fifty boards and her study concluded that there was a lack of African American, Hispanic and Asian women in the boardroom.
“While women have made significant strides in the corporate arena, we are still drastically underrepresented in the boardroom. Although many women feel like they lack the knowledge to sit at the table, women bring an infusion of experience, expertise, energy and innovative ideas. Having diversity on corporate boards will lead to better marketing strategies and enhanced corporate governance while maximizing a company’s financial performance”
says Dr. Wishom.
In order to help women attain these corporate positions, Dr. Wishom hosts a bi-weekly women’s roundtable designed for high-achieving female career professionals and women business owners who want to elevate their career to the next level. During her twenty year corporate and non-profit tenure she has held many leadership roles. In the non-profit arena, she held such positions as executive director, compliance officer and human services director. Armed with experience and a desire to help women achieve their dreams, she founded Masterpiece Solutions, LLC in 1998.
Dr. Wishom was the winner of the 2007 STEVIE Award™ (Mentor of the Year), a 2007 Pinnacle Award Finalist and recipient of the 2008 YMCA of Greater Houston Minority Achievers Award. She is the Publisher of several business-related books, authored numerous “expert” industry articles and publisher of The Greater Houston Resource Guide©.
