Pit Bulls Converge on the NW Working Dogs Expo!

May 30, 2008 - PRLog -- Today NW Working Dogs has announced that there will be an American Pit Bull Terrier show at the NW Working Dogs 2008 Expo.  This is a 'supported entry' within the NCA (National Canine Association) Conformation Show.  All pure-bred American Pit Bulls are encouraged to come out and strut their stuff in the show ring.

"The All American Pit Bull Association (AAPBA) is sponsoring this supported entry.", says Virginia Dunn, head of NW Working Dogs.  "We are very excited to have the pits come and compete.  We're looking for a large turnout!"

There are other activities that pitbulls, pure bred or mixed, can do at the expo.  Canine Good Citizen testing, ATTS, obedience and protection work are being offered.  Dunn says the American Temperament Test is particularly important for pits.

"With so much breed-specific legislation against pit bulls, it's imparitive that owners strike a blow by training and testing their dogs.  Last year we had 33 entries in the ATTS Temperament Test.  Over a 1/3rd of them were pits.  We hope to do even better this year."

The NW Working Dogs Expo is being held on June 14th & 15th at the Columbia County Fairgrounds in St. Helens, OR.  It is open to the public as well as all breeds - purebred and mixed.  Activites include the K9 Pro Sports NW Regional Trials, NCA Conformation Shows, ATTS Temperament Testing, Canine Good Citizen Testing, Decoy Certification Trials, and a Raffle For Rescue.  The complete list of activities can be found at http://www.nwworkingdogs.com
