Baltimore’s Fashion Week Puts On Second Model Training RehearsalThe Second Model Training Rehearsal takes place
By: Baltimore's Fashion Week “He is one reason why I’m doing fashion week because I know that he knows how to make a model into a professional model,” says Sharan Nixon, President of Baltimore’s Fashion Week. During the model training rehearsal, Nixon checked in and lined up all the models. Mercer used his famous hands-on approach to training the models by helping each model perfect their walk through visual presentation. Mercer gained his experience by walking the runways in New York for famous designers like Calvin Klein. Mercer and Nixon met about five years ago when Nixon decided it was time for her to grace the runways again with her saunter walk, that was perfected with a little bit of tweaking by Fashion Enterprises, facilitated by Mercer. “I love Robert Mercer and he is one of the reasons of who I am today. I remember when I first walked for him he never gave me any indication of whether I was good or bad with my walk. He gave me instructions and said I will see you in two weeks, that’s it have a nice day. I remember I left in a state of confusion. I did not know what that meant, but I followed his instructions and I returned on the scheduled date approximately five minutes before I was scheduled. He called me in his office and said you have done everything I asked of you, so I would be glad to work with you. I was relieved and it has been a great history in the making every since. When I decided to facilitate fashion week, he was the first person I called and told. He was really lost for words, but he believed in me and that was all I needed from my mentor and teacher. I thank God for Robert Mercer,” exclaimed Nixon. Other Design Team members were on the look out for talent as well including Michael Billups, Public Relations Assistant; Antoine Brown, Vice President; Saran Fossett, Executive Producer; and Paulette Wilson, Public Relations Coordinator. The Baltimore’s Fashion Week team would like to thank all of the models that participated in the second model training rehearsal.
