March 19, 2008 - PRLog -- Debswana, the joint venture between De Beers and the Botswana government, is currently conducting prefeasibility stage studies in order to determine how to expand production at the Jwaneng diamond mine. The company will decide whether it should expand the open pit further or begin expanding underground.

Jwaneng is the world’s richest diamond mine by value, contributing some 70% of Debswana’s revenue. The Orapa diamond mine, which is also owned by the company, produces larger volume.

Mining Weekly reports that Debswana produces 25% of the world’s diamond production by value from its diamond projects at Jwaneng, Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa.
