March 4, 2008 - PRLog -- —Little Print Press is proud to announce the release of the new novel by former restaurant owner Fern Esposito.

In recent years, Americans have seen a host of films and shows portraying restaurant life. From blockbuster films such as In the Weeds, Dinner Rush, Big Night, Waiting… and No Reservations,  to hit television shows like Top Chef and Hell’s Kitchen, the public can’t seem to get enough of the outrageous situations that occur within this unique working environment.

Now, in her new novel, The Door Whore: Confessions of a Restaurant Diva, Fern Esposito brings the same fascinating qualities from the films and a myriad of new ones, to the printed page.

Ivy Zingara, the protagonist, possessing no prior restaurant knowledge, dives into creating a restaurant as a total novice, and experiences numerous obstacles from misogynistic fire and building inspectors, to an array of inane employees. She hires a lunatic chef and a staff of dipsomaniacs, yet still manages to create an incredibly successful dining venue that the “glitterati” love to frequent.

“Ivy’s tale brings forward a cast of unruly characters, and the often outlandish, irrational requests of the Sentimento diners. The Door Whore is not a sanitized interpretation of restaurant life, but rather a true glimpse of the bizarre histrionics that take place in a restaurant.

Ms. Esposito’s novel is perhaps one of the most honest portrayals of the setting behind restaurant doors, and the highs and lows of being a female entrepreneur. She captures the humorous, daily eccentricities that take place in many restaurant kitchens and dining rooms, with real characters and dialogue. Centered inside an affluent city in New Jersey, The Door Whore successfully illustrates the comedy, drama and insanity that come with owning a restaurant.

“I wrote the book to entertain readers,” says Ms. Esposito. “As an avid reader myself, I appreciate a novel that allows me to escape from my everyday life. I believe that my novel will transport readers to the Sentimento Ristorante in all of its outrageousness—and I am confident they will love every minute of it!”

Fern Esposito has extensive knowledge of the restaurant business, having created a successful dining venue in 2000. Her restaurant received a rating of “excellent” from the New York Times in 2002. She sold her restaurant in 2004. She currently resides in New Jersey with her husband Peter and her dog Louie V.
