March 2, 2008 - PRLog -- The National Retail Federation (NRF) has begun a series of NRF-Investigator’s Network Meetings throughout the United States with the aim of connecting loss prevention executives with local law enforcement agencies. Under discussion are issues currently plaguing the retail industry and how to combat the problem of organized retail crime.

Meetings are scheduled to take place in New York City, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle and Miami in the coming months.

NRF also announced that 19 companies have joined its Law Enforcement Partnership Network (LerpNET) since the summer of 2007. The aim of LERPnet, which was launched jointly by the FBI, the Retail Industry Leaders Association and the Food Marketing Institute, is to bring together local, state and federal law enforcement agencies as well as retailers through the system’s information-sharing and crime-tracking abilities.

NRF Vice President for of Loss Prevention, Joseph LaRocca, noted: “Through networking and great partnerships, retail loss prevention executives can now share retail crime struggles with local law enforcement agencies. We look forward to building new relationships in this new endeavor to educate the world about organized retail crime and its effect on innocent consumers and the industry as a whole.”
