| eSyndicat Pro riddled with bugsWeb software development company Intelliants LLC has released version 2.2 RC2 of its eSyndicat Pro directory software. Used by webmasters the purchase and installation of this latest release has proven itself to be a costly mistake for many.
By: C0113c70r The software is completely riddled with code bugs. A visit to the product’s customer support forum on December 15, 2007 revealed forum posts regarding hundreds of different bugs reported by product license holders. Bugs such as – • Google pageranks not being added to URL listings when submitted to the directory. • Website thumbnail images not appearing. • Smarty errors when using product syntax to include PHP files into the existing product. • Problems with the checking of reciprocal links. • Crontab errors. • Incorrect counts displayed for links within categories and subcategories. • Inability to access features of the Admin Panel, such as providing descriptions for categories when created. • Scripts are entering into infinite loops when executed, not stopping until the user closes the browser window. The list of bugs goes on too greatly to mention them all here. And the sad part is that purchasers of installation licenses must first read through every post on the forum, discover every fix to every bug that has been posted, then apply those fixes to the product that they purchased before it will be rid of those bugs – and the software will still be buggy! The bugs aren’t only in the software – they have crept into customer service and support as well. Product support is practically nil. There are valid, reproducible bugs reported in the eSyndicat Forums that have not been responded to by anybody since they were reported – nearly two months ago. Purchasers of the licenses for the eSyndicat Pro directory software have become so irrate waiting on fixes for the bugs that they reported that some have begun demanding refunds and even threatening a class action lawsuit against Intelliants LLC. In one instance, a customer with an “Unlimited Domains License” spent nine days begging, groveling, and finally seeking assistance from an attorney before he was given access to the installation keys that are required for installation of the software on a server. Though the service personnel who finally assisted the customer insisted that he never received notification from the customer through the site’s help desk ticketing system, that very same service person responded to the customer’s help desk ticket the day after it was opened, then marked the ticket as “Closed”. For those seeking to purchase a web application for the development of a directory on their servers, it would be wise to first read the posts on eSyndicat’s forum before making this purchase. There are many other more qualified and less expensive scripts available on the market today that will not require the webmaster to install hundreds of fixes to critical bugs.
