Phase II of Trail System Complete at Heron Bay Golf & Country Club

The extensive trail system at Heron Bay allows homeowners unique opportunities to enjoy and explore the outdoors.

Nov. 20, 2007 - PRLog -- White Oak, Buckeye, Fern, Azalea and Hemlock are common plants in this part of the country and guaranteed to make a prompt appearance during any native plant identification hike, but Heron Bay Golf & Country Club, http://www.heronbayinfo.com, celebrates these familiar plants in the naming of its numerous trails, winding throughout the community. The second phase of the extensive trail system was recently completed, adding three new trails and providing easy access to the various community parks and neighborhoods at Heron Bay.

“One of the most outstanding characteristics of Heron Bay is the natural beauty surrounding the entire community,” said Brian Davison, Managing Partner of Minerva Properties, LLP, http://www.heronbayinfo.com/about/minerva.php, the developers of Heron Bay. “It totally envelopes you when you enter Heron Bay, so we decided to name the trails after the indigenous foliage found along the trails in celebration of the community’s natural beauty.”

Davison continues, “Not only do the trails provide a means to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, but they also promote a healthy lifestyle and interaction between friends and neighbors, which is important to the residents at Heron Bay. At almost any time of the day, residents young and old can be seen using the trail as a way to stay fit, spend time with family and friends and appreciate and explore all that nature has to offer.”

The trails allow residents to enjoy the natural beauty of the Canongate golf course, extensive greenways and preserves and amazing views over Henry County's beautiful Cole Reservoir. In addition, Heron Bay's trails are adjacent to the Cubihatcha Outdoor Center, a county nature trail system and preserve with an additional 10 miles of pristine trails and wooden boardwalks winding through nearly 1,000 acres of natural woodlands.

Construction of trails will continue as Heron Bay grows, eventually connecting each of the neighborhoods within Heron Bay and including a loop trail. Trail markers inform walkers of the trail direction, distance and difficulty, as well as educate walkers about the different animal and plant species native to the area that can be seen on the trails. Deer, wild turkeys, beavers, raccoons and other wildlife abound and are often spotted along the trails.

Heron Bay, in Henry and Spalding counties, features a premier team of the area’s top new homebuilders. Prospective homebuyers are sure to find the perfect home in one of Heron Bay’s many neighborhoods. Architectural styles include Traditional, European, Cottage and Craftsman designs, while plan types range from active adult cottages on small, low maintenance lots to custom golf or lake view homes on large home sites.  Prices range from the high $100’s to more than $1 million.

Situated adjacent to the 1,100 acre Henry County Cole Reservoir, Heron Bay residents have access to non-motorized or electric trolling motor boating from Henry County’s boat ramp and a large lakefront park complete with a covered picnic pavilion is currently under construction. The community is also home to an 18-hole, par-72 Canongate Golf Course that has a club and grille. In addition to these amenities, the community has a 5,000 square foot lodge with fitness center, a three-pool aquatic center, a tennis center, a children’s playground, a multi-purpose playfield and miles of nature trails and pocket parks that connect all of the neighborhoods in Heron Bay to each other and the amenities.
