BAAR, Switzerland - Jan. 6, 2026 - PRLog -- SGS, the world's leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 184.25, summarizing the European Commission's (EC) Joint Research Center's (JRC) latest guidance on testing kitchenware.

The JRC is the EU's internal research body, supporting policy with independent, evidence-based knowledge and science, collaborating with other EC departments, institutions, EU member state research agencies and international stakeholders.

This latest technical update was published on November 28, 2025. The 5th Edition of the JRC's 'Testing conditions for kitchenware articles in contact with foodstuffs' includes updated and expanded Annexes which replace the JRC's 'Testing conditions for kitchenware articles in contact with foodstuffs; plastics, metals, silicone and rubber, paper and board'.

The updated guide published in the 5th Edition applies with immediate effect.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 184.25 includes a concise summary table with highlights from the 5th Edition Annexes.

Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 184.25 for more details.
