Judge's Ruling For Harvard Helps Many Universities

George Washington, Columbia, Berkeley, NYU, Others Being Investigated

WASHINGTON - Sept. 3, 2025 - PRLog -- Today's ruling by a federal judge that the Trump administration illegally froze more than $2 billion in research funding at Harvard University over how officials handled alleged campus antisemitism is a major victory for Harvard, but it could also benefit - by creating a strong precedent - many other universities which have likewise been threatened by the Trump administration because of alleged antisemitism, says public interest law professor John Banzhaf.

These include Columbia University, Harvard University, George Washington University, Johns Hopkins University, New York University, Northwestern University, Berkeley University, the University of California, the University of Minnesota, the University of Southern California, and others.

For example, the Justice Department found that Banzhaf's school, George Washington University, was "deliberately indifferent to antisemitic discrimination," and threatened to deploy "enforcement" measures against the school unless a voluntary resolution was reached.

So officials at some 60 universities are likely to begin re-calibrating their responses and preparing similar defense strategies, says Banzhaf, who has won many victories.
