Ricky Abernathy, the son of a renowned singer Sterling Abernathy who once performed alongside Jackie Wilson, grew up surrounded by the giants of soul and funk. He formed street-corner groups that mirrored the golden age of harmony and raw musicality. Mentored closely by members of The Ohio Players, Abernathy and his neighborhood band developed a signature sound rooted in live instrumentation, street harmony, and passion. His collaborators included musical legends such as Roger Troutman (before founding Zapp) and Stevie Shockley, who played guitar with the Nomads and Underground Ohio Lakeside Players.
Despite personal trials and a period of incarceration, Abernathy's faith and music became a beacon of peace. in prison, he used his gift to diffuse tension and build unity across rival
groups-demonstrating the power of music to heal and transform. Now, with his unmatched vocals, real-life wisdom, and a legacy to uphold, he is ready to share his story and sound with the world once again.
