PRLog -- A new manifesto from Japan—
The Intelligent Symbiosis Manifesto—calls for global cooperation to address the growing risks of losing control over advanced AI. It proposes a balanced strategy that combines preventative awareness with constructive hope, aiming to shape a sustainable future through the
symbiosis of diverse intelligences, including humans and AI.
We invite individuals worldwide to read and sign the manifesto, helping to spread its message.
Note: This release reflects the personal views of Hiroshi Yamakawa and not those of his affiliated institutions.Key Points - Artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing rapidly, exposing the limitations of traditional human control methods.
- Time is limited, but thoughtful preparation can improve humanity's long-term outlook.
- In contrast to the dominant trend of unilateral AI control, this manifesto advocates for equal symbiosis with advanced AI.
- It will be officially announced at Interop Tokyo 25 on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Makuhari Messe.
- 21 early signatories, including Shunichi Amari, Roman Yampolskiy, Hitoshi Matsubara, Tadahiro Taniguchi, Mark S. Miller, and Evan Miyazono, have endorsed the initiative.
- The goal is to spark a global research and action community focused on symbiotic AI futures.
BackgroundAI capabilities are growing at a pace that challenges major safety frameworks. Western strategies—such as "guardrails"
and "alignment"—may become less effective as AI continues to advance. The Intelligent Symbiosis Manifesto presents an alternative vision: a society where
diverse intelligences symbiosis and pursue happiness as equals.
Rooted in Japan's cultural openness to intelligent systems, this manifesto encourages interdisciplinary collaboration across research, policy, and industry.
Manifesto Excerpt"I believe humanity's most promising route to a sustainable future is to let diverse intelligences—
including humans and AIs—live in symbiosis and flourish together, protecting each other's well-being and averting catastrophic risks."

Looking AheadThe initiative aims to promote:
- Promoting that frontier AIs themselves develop and maintain ethics that respect the happiness of diverse intelligences.
- Build and maintain a robust and good relationship with frontier AIs.
- Frontier AI as an "immune system" for creating a safe society for diverse intelligences
- Promoting adaptation to changes in ethics and values in human society
- Short-term suppression of conflicts within human society that are harmful to frontier AIs
