PRLog -- Good cooling, or more precisely effective heat dissipation, is a not insignificant factor when it comes to operational reliability and performance in the case of built-in computers, the embedded controllers in demand for industrial applications. Traditionally, extensive ribbed heat sinks are used here, which are mounted on the actual housing. The experienced manufacturer Neousys is taking a different approach with its new
Nuvo-9531-FT model series, which is now available from the German distributor
Acceed.
With an operating temperature range of -25 to +60 °C, the new Nuvo-9531-FT is clearly designed for industrial applications. The box PC belongs to a new category of fanless computers that use a flat heat sink for passive heat dissipation. It is designed for installation in closed cabinets, waterproof boxes or even explosion-proof enclosures. In these installation situations with limited natural ventilation, the Nuvo-9531-FT scores with its innovative cooling design, the flat-top cooling, which is also what the abbreviation FT in the product name stands for. Thanks to the flat heat sink with the thermal pad on the top side, the heat generated during operation can be effectively dissipated to the outer surface of the casing to ensure an optimal operating temperature.
The Nuvo-9531-FT supports 14th generation Intel processors with up to 24 cores/32 threads, providing almost double the performance of previous Intel platforms. For example, extensive I/O capabilities such as four 2.5 GbE interfaces with optional PoE+ PSE and four USB 3.2 ports can be used to connect multiple cameras, for example in machine vision or surveillance applications. Other features include an M.2 socket Gen4 for connecting an NVMe SSD with read/write speeds of up to 7000 MB/s, two mini-PCIe slots and an M.2-E slot for installing WiFi or 5G/4G communication modules, as well as a hot-swappable hard disk drive bay. This allows hard disks to be changed during operation without having to switch off the system or disassemble the chassis. Eight digital inputs and outputs, two COM ports and two display outputs are available for general embedded tasks.
With the latest developments, Neousys now offers a wide range of fanless embedded computers with support for the latest generation of Intel CPUs through the distributor Acceed.
