| SHOGUN Experiences in Deep JapanBy: Transformational Japan [NIKKO, September 20, 2024] — The news is in from America, the television series SHOGUN is a colossal hit. Not only is the narrative of the series gripping, but the presentation of true Japanese historical contexts, in all of its architectural, spiritual, traditional and cultural nuances come into sharp focus. My Shogun Story is a dedicated to bringing modern-minded travelers to the deep heart of the land of Shoguns through Special Performances sure to delight those interested in traditional entertainment, such as kabuki to those who have fallen under the spell of Japan's unique anime culture. This year, Nikko celebrates its 25th anniversary of its registration as a World Heritage Site. Two separate shrines will hold performances in kabuki theater and modern anime. In kabuki, Kataoka Sennosuke will perform "Shishi (Lion)" in "Midori no Matsu (Green Pine)", and classic Edo period literature will be shared by anime voice actors, Yuki Kaji, Toshiki Masuda, and Minori Chihara. With a long history of service excellence, My Shogun Story as manifested through Tobu Top Tours and the City of Nikko, hopes to link its own efforts to the deep history and cultural significance of the Toshogu Shrine and the legacy of the great Shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu.
