Burnley Council appoints Cadcorp for cloud GIS and software integration services

STEVENAGE, U.K. - Sept. 11, 2024 - PRLog -- Burnley Borough Council has selected location intelligence company, Cadcorp, to supply cloud hosted Geographical Information System (GIS) and web mapping. The contract was awarded using the G-Cloud procurement framework and includes the Cadcorp cloud services Cadcorp SIS Desktop, Cadcorp SIS WebMap, and the Cadcorp Spatial Database Service. Cadcorp is providing a range of onboarding services including project management and training as well as a cloud managed service.

To fulfil its strategy of increasing sustainable development, Burnley Council recognised the need to migrate from its legacy system to a modern, cost-effective cloud GIS that could easily integrate with its new Building Control system. The council approached Cadcorp via the government G-Cloud framework with the requirement for a cloud hosted and managed desktop GIS, web mapping system and PostgreSQL spatial database. Specific requirements included integrating with the latest Ordnance Survey® National Geographical Database (OSNGD), creating and editing spatial data within a browser, streamlining constraints spatial searches, and reporting incidents on a map.
