S1 Fixation and Laminectomy Surgery at Yashoda Hospitals

Aug. 27, 2024 - PRLog -- Yashoda Hospitals hitec City is pleased to announce the successful surgical intervention performed on Mrs. Usha Rani Nadipineni, who presented with severe low back pain radiating to her right lower limb. After thorough evaluation and pre-operative workup, Mrs. Nadipineni underwent L4/L5/S1 fixation and laminectomy on July 8, 2023. The procedure was conducted by our esteemed Chief Consultant, Dr. Bala Raja Sekhar Chandra, MS, MCh, Consultant Neuro & Spine Surgeon.

Mrs. Nadipineni's surgery was completed without complications. Post-operative recovery has been smooth and uneventful. During her hospital stay, she was provided with comprehensive care, including IV fluids, antibiotics, analgesics, PPIs, and other supportive therapies. She is now being discharged in a stable condition.

The procedure involved L4/L5/S1 fixation and laminectomy. The patient was positioned supine under general anesthesia, then turned prone on bolsters. The surgical site was scrubbed, painted, and draped. The L4/5/S1 laminae were exposed, and a fracture was noted. Pedicle screws were inserted, followed by laminectomy and partial laminectomy. Nerve roots were freed, rods were placed and tightened, and bone grafts were applied. The wound was closed in layers, and ASD was performed.
