GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND: Patton—Patton, creator of the SmartNode™ brand of industry-leading VoIP technology solutions—announces the SmartNode SN9000, a new kind of media gateway and signaling converter, is now shipping. The device streamlines convergence between SIP telephony and TDM with V5.2, SS7, ISDN-PRI and R2/CAS signaling.

Low Profile. Housed in a 1U chassis the media gateway and signaling converter comes with 4, 8 or 16 x T1/E1 and supports 120, 240 or 480 simultaneous TDM to SIP calls.

Any-to-Any. As a Signaling Converter the device delivers ANY-to-ANY signaling gateway functions to and from SS7 (including MTP2, MTP2 and ISUP), V5.2, ISDN-PRI, and R2/CAS.

Full IP Support. As a Media Gateway the unit supports TDM-to-SIP, SIP-to-TDM, TDM-to-TDM and SIP-to-SIP with full call routing and integrated IP-PBX functionality. Full IP Support means SIP, SIP-T, SIP-I, RTP, RTCP, TCP, and UDP together with voice codecs for wireless networks, wireline networks and Fax over G.711, T.38 or fax relay. Scalable SIP Registration and authentication provide for up to 10,000 SIP subscribers.

High Density. The SN9000 can be cascaded for high density applications, allowing one SS7 signaling link to serve up to 64 E1s.

Voice Quality is maintained with adaptative programmable jitter buffers, VAD, SID, CNG and hardware-based echo cancellation.

Management and Security. An intuitive WebGUI with SNMPv2 monitoring provide system management functions. RADIUS login, integrated firewall, password protected access, and SSH provide high levels of device and network security.

"The SN9000 holds a unique position in the Media Gateway market, said Robert Patton, CEO at Patton, "offering a much lower price with much easier configuration and management capabilities compared to other products and players."
