Follow on Google News | Scouts Impact on Local Communities Through Scouting for FoodBy: Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council, BSA In preparation for the upcoming Scouting for Food collection day on November 4th, Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council (SVMBC) will be distributing 135,000 door hangers throughout neighborhoods. This initiative enables residents to prepare food donations for pick-up, ensuring a seamless and convenient process. In 2022, SVMBC's Polaris District contributed to 25% of all the food donations, with Pack 415, collecting over 5,300 pounds of food for West Valley Community Services (https://www.wvcommunityservices.org/) Scouting for Food is an initiative that extends far beyond the Scouters and their immediate families. It is a testament to Scouting's commitment to serving the broader community, working together to combat hunger, and provide vital assistance to those who need it most. On the first three Saturdays of November, Scouts from SVMBC, along with several other Councils across Northern Californica, including Golden Gate, Piedmont, Redwood Empire and Pacific Skyline Council, will host a Scouting for Food collection day.
