Clothing for Those in Desperate Need

Central Ohioans Provide Typhoon Relief for the People of Southeast Africa

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Oct. 12, 2023 - PRLog -- Finish Line Ministries International, through an event called Operation Kindness, is partnering with several churches and numerous families to fill a 40-foot shipping container with 700 boxes of gently used clothes and shoes to meet the desperate needs of those in Southeast Africa. Many of them lost everything in the devastating floods caused by Typhoon Freddy.

"Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, and the clothes we receive from Operation Kindness make an extraordinary impact. This shipment is literally putting clothes on the backs of desperate men, women, and children," said Yohane Kaphesi, Executive Director in Africa, Finish Line Ministries International.

Operation Kindness began in 2021 when Finish Line Ministries was unable to meet for the annual banquet due to COVID restrictions. They sought to find a way to celebrate the year and provide an opportunity for Central Ohioans to care for others. In this, Operation Kindness was born. It was a huge success in both Central Ohio and in Malawi. The people of Malawi were so grateful and appreciative of the clothing shared with them. This year's Operation Kindness is the third of its kind. On November 4th, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., hundreds of people will drive through at Lifepoint Church at 7404 Graphics Way in Lewis Center to drop off their boxes filled with gently used clothing and shoes.
