VMA Celebrates Manufacturing Month

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Oct. 2, 2023 - PRLog -- Nationally, October is designated Manufacturing Month to recognize and promote the success of U.S. Manufacturers in the global marketplace.

The Volusia Manufacturers Association (VMA) will kick-off the month celebrating National Manufacturing Day on October 6, 2023 with "We Make It Here!" Day and continue with events throughout the month, as an effective way to expand knowledge about the value manufacturing brings to Volusia county's economy and to showcase the high-skilled high wage jobs offered by the industry.

Manufacturing is a valuable and important component of our economy in Florida and where Volusia and Flagler Counties are home to over 500 manufacturing companies that employ over 12,000 people in the region paying an average annual wage of $61,354.00 and contributing over $1.3 billion to the gross domestic product (GDP).

By working together with education, manufacturers will address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, build the next generation of skilled manufacturing employees, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.

Volusia Manufacturers Association (VMA), the Regions #1 Resource for Manufacturers, will kick-off the celebration with "We Make It Here!" Day on October 6, 2023, with the manufacturers beginning to speak during the month in schools throughout the area about our dynamic local manufacturers, what they make, the careers they offer.

ABB, Ormond Beach, maker of reliable electrical connectors, will display its products in the Ormond Beach library during the month.

On October 14, 2023 VMA will present the 4^th Annual Robot Brawl at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, a collaboration of students and manufacturers building robots together to compete in a battle for supremacy.

On October 19, 2023, the CareerSource Flagler Volusia, will host an interactive Career Showcase for local high school students at ERAU Mori Hosseini Student Union Event Center.

Manufacturing Month highlights the efforts of the VMA, which has worked tirelessly since 1980 to inform the community of the diverse manufacturers located in our region. Come out to these events to learn that "We Make It Here!"
